Allan D. Schermerhorn, 61, of Lansing, IL passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014.He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sandy (nee Johnson); daughter, Jennifer (Vincent) Neri; son, Mark Schermerhorn; grandchildren, Alyssa and Nicholas; sister, Mildred (Steve) Bennett; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Rod) Werner; nieces, Lori, Christy, Katie, and Laura; nephews, Charles, Andrew and Stephen Paul; He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Virginia Schermerhorn.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 2:00-5:30 PM with a Memorial Service at 5:30 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN.
Allan owned and operated Schermerhorn Building & Remodeling Company. He was a loving, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who will be missed by everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family would be appreciated.

Over the past months, I have come to think of Al not only as my contractor, but as a friend.He was a kind, thoughtful person, who had his priorities in the right place....family came first as it should be, & very rare to find these days. He loved his family so very much, & when he spoke of his Grand Children, his eyes lit up.I will miss him very much.God bless my sweet friend's family members during this sad time. The world is darker with out Al in it, but on May 1st I believe heaven became a lot brighter!
