Allen Anthony Blocher, 84, of Munster, IN. passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. He is survived by his sons, David (Carolyn) Blocher and Gregg (Anne) Blocher; grandchildren, Matthew, Mary Beth, Robert and Lauren Blocher, brother-in-law, Robert Maloney, nieces, Cindy Blocher and Diane (Paul) Bischel; nephews, Del (Colleen) Blocher Jr., Chris Blocher and Mike (Robin) Blocher. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Margot; parents, Delmere and Agnes Blocher; brother and sister-in-law, Del (Jane) Blocher; and sister, Arlo Maloney. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 3:00-8:00 pm with a prayer service at 3:30 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Friday from 9:30-10:00 am at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Fr. Michael Yadron and officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph-St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Allen retired from the School City of Hammond after 46 years of teaching. He taught many years at Edison and Scott Middle School where he coached track, basketball, and Science Olympiad teams. He was a member of the Lake County Retired Teachers’ Association and the past president of the Retirees’ Chapter of the Hammond Teachers’ Federation. He was an active member of St. Thomas More Church in Munster, serving on the pastoral council and the festival committee. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Catholic Charities, Bishop Noll Institute, Hospice of the Calumet Area, or a charity of your choice in his memory would be appreciated.
