Amelia E. Aguilera, 81, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011. She was raised in East Chicago, IN, lived in Munster, IN and then Crown Point, IN. Amelia worked for Bell Telephone Co. in East Chicago for many years, right after graduating from East Chicago Washington High School. After retiring she worked as a beautician for awhile and then became a nanny to several children, because she loved children so much. She also worked as a QMA and CNA at different hospitals and nursing homes. Her favorite pastimes were cooking, baking and being with family and friends. She leaves behind a son, Jose Aguilera; grandchildren, Amanda Aguilera and Anthony (Cherlyn) Aguilera; great granddaughter, Peyton Aguilera; brothers, Robert (Erma) Aguilera, John (Judy) Aguilera, Jesse (Patsy) Aguilera; sisters, Yolanda Aguilera and Lydia A. Villarreal; sister in law, Nancy Aguilera. Preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Aguilera in 1996; parents, Luis and Angela (nee Bocanegra) Aguilera; sister, Antonia Aguilera Flores; brothers, Louis and Jose Lalo Aguilera; cousin, Ernesto Delgado. She was dearly loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. She was the Matriarch of the Aguilera family. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 1:00-6:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Monday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN. Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.
