Andreas “Andy” Baum, 51, of Lansing, IL passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023. Beloved son of Hildegard (nee Knoll). Loving brother of Cornelia Baum, Sonia Coxon (nee Baum) and Markus Baum. Proud Uncle of Abigail and Thomas Coxon. Cherished nephew and Godson of Johann (Gertrude) Baum, nephew of Ida (Hugo) Buetow, nephew of Renate (Herbert) Schmidt. Numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Rudolf Baum in 2016, his uncle, Julius Baum and aunts, Gisela Radosavljevic and Anna Waters in 2021, his uncle, Peter Knoll in 2013, his aunt, Helene Wilcox in 2003, his uncle, Ewald Knoll in 1992 and aunt Maria in 1975.
Andy was born in Chicago Heights and lived most of his life in Lansing, IL. Early on he began to learn different trades and was a welder during his high school days. After that he spent time working construction for his uncle Marko in Las Vegas. Upon returning home he worked for FORD Motor company for over ten years. He then acquired a CDL license and drove a semi-truck for a while as well. He also received a locksmith certification and took classes in computer-aided design at DeVry and South Suburban College. He was incredibly smart and continued to expand his knowledge. He continued learning throughout his life and he was always up for new challenges. (loved going on fact finding missions) He was an avid fisherman and loved nature. He would enjoy going to forest preserves, boating on nearby rivers and lakes and being at his happy place, his cabin in Canada that he owned with other family and friends. Andy was a great man and a gentle soul. He wore his heart on his sleeve and loved his family immensely. He was a proud Onkel and Godfather. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 330 Highland Dr. Chicago Heights, IL. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to The National Alliance on Mental Illness (https://www.nami.org/Home) in his memory would be appreciated.
