Andrew “Andy” Clement Hafertepe, 50, passed away surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Born on December 8, 1975, in Park Ridge, Illinois, Andy spent his childhood in Mount Prospect before later living in Chicago and eventually making his home in Munster, Indiana.
Andy dedicated his entire career to the logistics field and was a proud graduate of the University of Iowa, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. A lifelong Chicago sports fan and proud Iowa Hawkeye, Andy rarely missed the chance to cheer on his favorite teams. More than anything, he loved passing that passion on to his sons, Hank and AJ. Whether watching a game together, talking sports, or celebrating a big win, those moments became some of his family’s most treasured memories.
Above all else, Andy was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His greatest joy was his family, and he treasured every moment spent with them. His strength, kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for those around him will be remembered always.
Andy is survived by his beloved wife, Allison (née Stalmack) Hafertepe; his cherished sons, Hank, 13 and AJ, 10; his mother, Mary Hafertepe; his siblings, Michael (Kelly) Hafertepe, Jeanne (Tom) Hamilton, Jan (Al) Gunneson, Joseph (Karen) Hafertepe, and Kathy (Paul) Cacioppo; his father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Deborah Stalmack; brothers and sisters-in-law, Todd and Kathryn Stalmack and John and Jessica Jamicich; and his 23 nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert “Herbie” Hafertepe.
