Annette L. Wisniewski, 75 of Munster, IN was born on September 21, 1948. She passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 26, 2023. She is survived by her sisters, Helene (late John) Nelson, Christie (late Tim) Granger, Shelly (late Jean) LaPeer, and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Carrie Wisniewski and sister, Marilyn Rae Wisniewski.
A proud graduate of Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN, Annette stepped into the classroom at Hammond Tech Vocational High School as a math teacher. She continued her career at Munster High School as a beloved math teacher and later as a guidance counselor, where she retired in 2006. Annette was president of the Munster’s Teacher Union and a member of the Munster Grassroots Democratic Organization.
An avid supporter of the arts, Annette had a passion for musical theater, opera, the CSO, movies, board games, travel, and public television, but family and friends truly brought her the most joy.
Smart, never pretentious. Sarcastic, but never mean. Spirited and chatty, but always ready to listen, and opinionated, but always thoughtful.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 2:00-6:00 pm with a prayer service at 2:30 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. and on Monday from 9:30-10:00 am at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, Munster, IN. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hospice of the Calumet Area, St. Joseph’s Carmelite Home or the St. Joseph Soup Kitchen in her memory would be appreciated.
