I am shocked and saddened to hear of Tony's passing. I have known Tony since high school when he went to Calumet HS & worked at McDonald's in Highland. We all used to hang out at Mark Poor's house together just goofing around. Tony was always such a kind, generous, sweet man and always a lot of fun. Just knowing that such a good soul is gone is heartbreaking for all of us! God Bless him in Heaven.

India, Simone and Alex, I'm so sorry to hear this!? I'm going to miss him too! Tony was fun-loving and we always had a connection. I will always remember his boyish enthusiasm / wonder at the fact that the “hills of lights” when he visited the SF Bay Area a few years back and got to show him and India beautiful Marin County with my brothers Kevin in SF, Stanley, and Cousin Eric Turtle, also in the bay. I'll also never forget a conversation he and I had about Gary Indiana, when I visited Bourbon, after I had business in Indianapolis. Also, his observations of being a “near Bourbonite”, close enough to see and know, but far enough to offer perspective that made the trip well rounded me, and better informed of my family's past; not allowing India to leave out a detail, knowing first hand what a “family tourist” was required to know, and feel welcome. He was one of the most approachable guys I know, period, paragraph; as if he was one of my high school friends, and had an amazing life story, and all of his enthusiasm, all while having to enduware his prop, a perpetual ice-pack in tow, like a standup comic and his “sidekick”. He painted a great picture of life there, and we had good laughs over his stories similar to my upbringing with his siblings (universal stories perhaps?), and his well informed political conversation. He was a true ambassador of kindness, humor, and midwest hospitality, which is what your family appeared to me to be all about! Yes, I’ll miss him, but I will not forget Tony!

I didn’t meet Tony until 2011, but he was unforgettable. Why? He had an immediate warmth toward all, that was kind and put you at ease. It was like a type of medicine only good hearted humans can give by being who they naturally are. Even his voice was warm - comforting, like a campfire. It is my hope that his dearest loved ones will always hear the best of that voice in their heads and feel his love inside and all around them. I send the family my deep condolences. I pray that Tony now knows “ the peace that surpasses all understanding,” Tony, thou my time with you was brief, I will miss you. God Speed Dear Soul.
