Arthur Nello Giannini, age 83, of Munster, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026.
Arthur was the beloved son of Nello and Ada (Ciucci) Giannini and was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Dorothy Caporale Giannini. He is survived by his loving children: Art Giannini, Mary Wells and her husband Tim, and John Giannini. He was a proud grandfather to Anthony and his wife Krysten, Dominic, Annabelle, and Peter Giannini, as well as Carter, Sarah, Cate, and Sam Wells.
Arthur was born on February 14, 1943, in Hammond, Indiana, he spent his childhood and teenage
years on Highland Street, where he built the foundation for a life centered around family, service, and community. He studied at Indiana University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He later completed his Master’s Degree at Indiana to pursue his desire to become a school counselor.
He dedicated over 40 years to the East Chicago School System, serving as a history teacher, guidance counselor, and assistant principal at Block and West Side Junior High Schools. His commitment to education and the well-being of his students left a lasting legacy in the community.
A man of deep faith, Arthur was an active member of Saint Thomas More Parish, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, participated in the Knights of Columbus, and contributed his time and talents to the Parish Council. His devotion to service extended beyond the church as he served on the Lake County Library Board for 16 years, playing a key role in various library modernization projects.
Outside of his professional and community endeavors, Arthur enjoyed a rich and fulfilling personal life. He treasured traveling with his beloved Dorothy, creating countless memories with his grandchildren, and had a passion for theater, musicals, and concerts. Arthur was also a dedicated baseball coach, a bowling enthusiast, and an avid sports fan. Art’s favorite team was the Chicago White Sox & he enjoyed many games at the stadium with his children and grandchildren. He also was a big fan of the Bears and IU basketball. Lastly, he was a true foodie who delighted in sharing meals with his wife Dorothy, family and friends.
His legacy of love, service, and dedication will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN from 9:00 A.M until 11:00 A.M. prayers followed by a 12:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial offered at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 8501 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN. Interment will follow at St. John/ St. Joseph Cemetery Hammond, IN.
