Barbara Ann Preslin age 73 of Munster, IN passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015. She is survived by her husband of (over 52) years, Steven N. Preslin; three sons: Steven Christopher (Debbie), Brian (Rita), and Aaron (Megan); three grandchildren: Hannah, Aiden and Jack; sister, Linda Burton and brother Donald Horvath (Alyce); sister-in-law, Fredde Nicholls, life-long friend, Maura Teresko; four step grandsons: Stephen and Adam Drabick, and Seth(Kelley) and Luke Justus; several nieces and nephews, several very close longtime friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, William Horvath and Florence Horvath Cadwell.Barbara first taught in Hammond and later was a teacher/administrator at Seton Academy. Her passion after retirement was gardening. She and Steve created a haven in their back yard. Their garden was part of several garden walks. Also, she loved nature and outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and bird watching especially when she and Steven were joined by the grandchildren. Just before her illness, she became a Master Naturalist which enriched and enhanced her love of the outdoors.Barbara volunteered at the gift shop at Community Hospital, was a member of Munster Garden Club, Friends of Calumet Hospice Artisan Group, and Friends of Munster Cancer Resource Center. She liked to travel with Steven and family and friends but most of all she loved doing activities with her grandchildren.Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 3:00-7:30 PM with a service of remembrance at 7:30 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Barbara donated her remains to the Indiana University Anatomical Donation Program.Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Calumet Area, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Nature Conservancy, Community Cancer Resource Foundation or Indiana University Anatomical Donation Program.
