Bernie Shimley Jr, age 59 of Hammond, IN passed suddenly on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. He is Survived by his father. Bernard Shimley Sr.; Wife Vikki of 22 years; Sons, Christopher Shimley and Alex Evanich. Grandpupps, Brutus and Cleo; Sister, Benita (Wes) Bellamy, Brian (Renee) Shimley; many family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Shimley.
Bernie was employed by Walgreens for 41 years and impacted so many of his “Wag” family members. Bernie`s passion was starting his weekend on Friday night watching his boys play, Notre Dame kicking off on Saturday and finishing up with the Bears on Sunday.
He would be the first to drop everything to help a friend, family or coworker. He will truly be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Visitation will be on Wednesday December 6, 2023 from 2:00-7:00 pm.
