Burton Bruce Robinson, age 79, of Munster, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Burton was a kind, friendly and giving man, who always had a smile on his face. He worked as an accountant at LTV Steel for 45 years, where he met his wife Miriana, to whom he was married for 53 years until his death. He was intelligent, with an amazing memory, and could fix almost anything; he was constantly joyfully hard at work, whether around the house and yard, helping friends and family, or volunteering. He was a veteran of the US Army in the Korean War. His favorite job, however, was being grandpa to his six loving grandchildren: Erich, Obed, Katherine, Aira, Matthew and Lilijana. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than holding them while they sat together in his recliner or played games or splashed in the pool, and each of them adored him in return. Burton also volunteered for many years in the Social Services Department of Community Hospital as well as at St. Thomas More church. He donated blood faithfully for over 40 years. Burt enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling around the world and also domesticly, using every opportunity to teach his kids and grandkids about the wonders of the world around them. He loved animals and bird watching in the beautiful yard he created with his wife over the years. He spent his retirement years enjoying the company of his former coworkers at weekly breakfasts, organizing the yearly Christmas party, playing cards and attending concerts, plays and other performances with his many friends and loving family. He will be gratefully remembered for his constant smile as he reliably was there for everyone who needed him, attending recitals and plays and sports events for his grandchildren no matter what else was going on. If you asked for help, his answer was always yes. Those who were lucky enough to share a lifetime with him will fondly remember his famous \”Nestea plunge,\” how he loved popcorn and root beer floats, and how he made every occasion better just by his warm friendly precense. Always resilient, Burton rose above many physical difficulties beyond anyone's expectations. He succumbed after a long and brave battle this year, during which he never complained. Burt was a man of strong faith and took comfort in God through his last day, when he passed in the company of his loving family. He was born on July 7, 1935 in East Chicago, to Walter and Clara (Schrieber) Robinson, both deceased. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Miriana (n√©e Desantic) and by his three children, Renee Gutsch, Rea (Don Ryzewski) Robinson, and Radley (Marjorie) Robinson, as well as by his adoring grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Earl (Margie) Robinson, cousins Verna McMichael and Clarence Yeager, nieces, nephews and countless loyal friends. He was preceded in death by his sisterPatsy Stahlhut and brother Raymond Robinson.Friends may call on Sunday November 30, 2014 from 2:00- 6:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home at 10000 Calumet Avenue in Munster.
