In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Humane Society of the Calumet Area would be appreciated. Our Dad proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, a United Nations Service Medal and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged. In March of 1957 he opened his service/gas station business in Calumet City, IL. He was very proud when his sons took over the business upon his retirement. They recently realized 60 years in business. He loved when his children and grandchildren would stop to visit and he could catch up on what was happening in their lives. He enjoyed yard work and sitting outside with his faithful companion, Ginger. But what he loved the most was being in Michigan at his beloved Magician Lake. That was his home away from home for 40+ years. He thought there was nothing better than a pier full of friends and family enjoying the lake life. We all continue to enjoy his Magician Lake. We would like to thank Max Brose for his twice weekly visits and lunch. A person couldn’t have had a better friend. And also his neighbor Julie, for her daily visits. Rest in Peace Dad. We Love You.
