Charles M. Vega, 69 of Hammond, IN passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 7, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Virginia “Ginny” Vega; daughters, Lauren (Layne Lebahn) Vega and Natalie (Brandon Finn) Vega-Finn; granddaughter, Hazel Finn; brothers, Ray (Margaret) Vega, Dr. Matt (Brenda Proffitt) Vega, Peter (Sandra) Vega and Joe Vega; sister, Monica Vega; sisters-in-law, Linda Vega-Clark and Laurel (Dr. Sirus) Hadawi; brother-in-law, Terry (late Patti) Eitel nieces and nephews, Bobby Clark, Chris (Amanda) Vega, Brian (Angee) Vega, Peter (Alexandra Perez- Maspons) Vega, Jessica (Rob Rios) Vega, Anthony (MatieVelasquez) Aponte; Joseph Vega, Justin Vega, Monique Vega, Charlie Baldazo, Gina (Robert Jocoby) Eriksson, David (Susan) Hadawi, Mimi (Tom) Broske, Erin Eitel, Terry (Sara) Eitel and Erik Eitel; several great nieces and great nephews; preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sophie Vega; grandson, Beckett Charles Vega-Fin and brother, John Vega. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Thursday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN. Charley retired from LTV Steel after 35 years of service. He served with U.S. Air Force and was an avid golfer. Charley worked part time as a substitute teacher for the Whiting School System and at Purdue Calumet in the Fitness Recreation Center.
