Charles J. Kwiat, 89, of Dyer, IN passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Lou Kwiat; daughter, Deborah (Jim) Witvoet; sons, Michael (Debra) Kwiat and David (Renee) Kwiat; grandchildren, Charles (Tina) Sanders, Kimberly (fiancé Kevin Butler) Sanders, Thomas Kwiat and Jennifer (Andy Strezo) Kwiat; great granddaughter, Vivian Sanders; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Bolek and grandson, J.C.A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 5:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 2:00-5:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in his memory would be appreciated.Charles served with the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was the oldest member of American Legion Post 330 in Calumet City, IL who will post colors and hold military honors on Tuesday at 5:00 PM and he retired from Nipsco.
