Lucinda Brown Lanman, age 68, of Schererville, Indiana passed away peacefully on November 28, 2008 at home. She was born March 29, 1940 in Indianapolis to the late Morris and Janet Brown. Cindy graduated from Tudor Hall School in 1957 and attended Vassar College and Purdue University. She married the late Charles Burnham Lanman in 1959, and they lived together in Munster, Indiana, until his passing in 1987. She married the late Robert Waters Lanman in 1992, and they lived together in Schererville until his death in February 2008. Cindy is survived by her beloved children: Marianne (Basil) Salaymeh, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Julie Landis, of St. Louis, Missouri; and David (Christina) Lanman, of Dayton, Ohio. She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren: Adam, Alex, Charlie, David, Emily, Hilary, Janet, Joanna, Katie, Lauren, and Matt. She is further survived by her only sister, Priscilla Brown Ruddell and dear cousin Marshall (Debbie) Macomber, both of Indianapolis as well as many special nieces and nephews, including Bob’s children: Susie, Sarah, Peter and Bruce. Cindy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an active member and former deacon of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1965. She was a lifelong member and past president of Service League of Hammond and the Gamma Nu Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa. She enjoyed volunteering for Hospice, Meals on Wheels, and was a former scout leader for both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She loved gardening, playing bridge, bowling, traveling, and, most importantly, spending time at her beloved Lake Wawasee.In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to either the Melanoma Research Foundation (www.melanoma.org), the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation (www.wacf.com), or Hospice of the Calumet Area (www.hospicecalumet.org). Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, Dec. 4 at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave., Munster. A funeral service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Munster at 1:00 pm on Friday, Dec. 5 with visitation prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 at the church. A graveside service will take place at noon EST on Saturday, Dec. 6 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
