Dana Jean Parducci Goodman, age 92 of Dyer, IN. passed away peacefully early Sunday morning on April 26th, 2026.
Dana grew up in Indiana Harbor. As a young girl, she dutifully helped her father at the family’s drug store ‘The Busy Corner’, as was expected of her and her siblings, teaching them the meaning of hard work and responsibility. But to Dana, it was the perfect opportunity to get a free ice cream cone or chocolate bar. She attended St. Mary’s of Notre Dame (High School) – her class being one of the first to graduate from the school. She went on to Mundelein College in Chicago where she earned a BS degree in Nutrition and then traveled to New York City for her internship. She was such an independent woman!
After being married to the love of her life, Dana joined Bob in running their drugstore ‘Goodman Drugs’ in Indiana Harbor, followed by their pharmacy ‘The Prescription Counter’ in Dyer. In their free time, they enjoyed going to the theater, opera, dinner in Chicago, and traveling. As many have said – there were never two people more in love than Bob & Dana.
Dana relished being a mother of 3 children. She filled her days supporting them and volunteering at the Hospice of the Calumet Area for thirty years caring for patients, attending memorials, and doing odd jobs. She was even featured in a commercial for Hospice. What a testament to Dana’s big heart!
After her volunteer days ended, she decided to check off some items from her bucket list, including indoor sky diving with her kids and grandchildren.
She loved traveling and encouraged her kids and grandchildren to experience new places and cultures. Her joy for life and warm smile has touched so many and will be so very missed.
She is survived by her loving children: Sons, Marc (Deborah) and Bubba (Amy); daughter, Leslie (Anthony) Smith; cherished grandchildren: Erin (Greg) Gehrig; Matthew, Dylan and Bailey Goodman, Megan and Rachel Smith, and treasured great grandchildren: Blaire and Morgen Gehrig.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Bernard (Bob) Goodman; her parents: Hugo and Eva Parducci; and siblings: Adele Pasquinelli, Lawrence Parducci, and Joy Shoemaker.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am – 11:00 am with Mass Service at 11:00 am – 12:00 pm following at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 500 Northgate Dr., Dyer, IN on May 12th, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, contributions made to Hospice of the Calumet Area or the Share Foundation in La Porte, Indiana in her memory would be much appreciated.
She loved life and wants all to be joyful. Per Dana’s wishes, Please where colors you are happy in to celebrate her life.
