Daniel B. LeMonnier, 56, of Munster, IN, used to quote “rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” Regretfully, he passed away peacefully without exaggeration on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife and joy of his life, Shari (nee Smith) , the children he adored and was so proud of, Flynn and Claire; beloved brothers Michael (Maria), William (Barbara), Martin (Karen), father and mother-in-law that he loved as his own, Darlene and Jerry Smith, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that gave him so much laughter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Rita LeMonnier and sister, Mary Jean.Friends may visit with the family on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 4:00 -8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, Indiana and on Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 8955 Columbia Ave. Munster, Indiana from 9:00AM-12PM with a memorial service and interment of the ashes at 12:00 noon.Dan, (singer, actor, humorist, storyteller and writer) composed and released the CD “BEGIN AGAIN” that has brought joy through its upbeat banjo rhythms and inspiring messages. He has performed nationally and internationally, delighting audiences of all ages at the Smithsonian Institute, Shanghai Childrens’ Palace, The Gambia West Africa, at the 53rd Presidential Inaugural Celebration, and at thousands of regional festivals, community art centers, schools and churches throughout the country. He was the recipient of the Frank L. Basile Emerging Stories Fellowship for his performance based on Clarence Jordan (Spiritual Father of Habitat for Humanity), and was a finalist for the Brimstone Award in applied storytelling for his program on hospice. Dan held a BFA from Marquette and an MFA from the Goodman School of Drama, and graduated with a Masters in Biblical Storytelling from Christian Theological Seminary. From 1986-2004, he was well known in the Chicago area as “Benny the Bull,” mascot for the Chicago Bulls. Dan was currently employed as the Youth Pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Munster . His faith was unfaltering even to the end of his struggle with cancer and was an inspiration through this journey. He has touched the lives of many in his life and work, and would like us to remember, “God is Good, All the time.”Education was very important to Dan, who was working on his Doctorate degree when he passed. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Flynn and Claire’s college education fund would be greatly appreciated.
