One of the kindest and wittiest men we have ever met. Gone, but never forgotten.

All three of our kids were in Dan’s Social Studies class in middle school. They described Him as passionate, friendly, and genuine. The rolled up newspaper and a cup of coffee Were trademarks of his presence. They also described him as stern but fair. He taught life lessons, not just social studies. My interactions with Dan were similar. He was a sincere listener and the Consummate professional, and rightfully belongs in the Wilbur Wright Hall of Fame. Kathy… my condolences.

I had Mr. Lowry for middle school history. He gave us one of the best homework assignments- go home and watch the news to be able to discuss current events next class. Before his class, I never bothered with the news. He helped me understand the importance of keeping up with current events and awareness of local and global issues. My parents and I watched together- so it became shared time. He also told great cow jokes from a book. Rest in peace.

Mr. Lowry was my social studies and drivers ED teacher. I had the privilege to be there when he was inducted into the WWMS hall of fame. It was a pleasure and honor to talk to him that day. He touched so many lives and was very well liked.

Mr. Lowry was my favorite teacher at WWMS (2009). I was saddened to hear of his passing. Everyday he showed nothing but kindness and patience to his students. Mr. Lowry was an absolute blessing. I will remember him greatly. Sending my condolences to his family. He was a wonderful person.

He was an absolute joy to have in class. He told us cow jokes when we were bad in class as a punishment. He had the absolute warmest heart. I wish I could just walk into his classroom one more time. I am so sorry for his friends and family as they lost an absolutely spectacular individual.

Dear Kathy and Family, I am deeply saddened to hear of Dan’s passing. He touched the lives of so many students. You may not remember, since this goes back to the late 70s and early 80s, but my husband, Bill, had him as a teacher at Purdue Cal. He always spoke so fondly of Dan. Bill passed away in January but I know he would give warm sympathies to you and your daughters. My two children had Dan at WWMS. They too were fond of Dan, if anything for his COW jokes! I also think my granddaughter had him at WWMS. He was so liked by his students. His love of teaching was undoubtedly evident. May you have peace and comfort with your memories of Dan. Fondly, Donna Carraher

My sincerest condolences for the passing of Mr. Lowry. I was a student of Mr. Lowry in 2009, and I can speak firsthand to the lasting impact and impression that he had on his students. While in his classroom, he would always ask us what we saw on the news. What I realized years later was that he was helping us understand and contribute to the world in which we live. Further, I remember how he made me feel. Mr. Lowry was kind. He was understanding. He never judged. He cared deeply. He was extremely sincere. We are so blessed that Mr. Lowry touched the lives of so many throughout the years. I am grateful to have had him as my history teacher and I am grateful to have the memories of him that will last forever.
