David William Sharp died unexpectedly on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the age of 71. Born on February 22, 1952 in East Lansing, MI to Dorothy and William Sharp, he was the eldest of 5 children. David grew up in Hammond and Munster. He attended Bishop Noll Institute (Class of 1970) and Purdue University graduating from Purdue with a B.A. in Visual Design (1978). While at Purdue- West Lafayette, he met Patricia Valentine and they were married on May 10, 1980 at St. Thomas Aquinas in West Lafayette. They were married for 43 years.
David is survived by his wife, Patricia; brothers, Michael (Donna) Sharp of Dyer, IN, Robert Sharp of Hebron, IN and James (Irma) Sharp of Round Lake, IL; sister, Patricia Schaefer of Olivet, MI; and many treasured nephews, nieces and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill (1989); mother, Dorothy Walker Sharp (2015); grandmother, Minnie Walker (1990); and grandmother, Vera Gerard Sharp (1986) of Vancouver, Canada.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at KISH FUNERAL HOME 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Claypool, IN. Visitation will be on Saturday, at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. service.
David began his career in 1979 as billboard designer and painter for Whiteco Advertising in Shelby, IN. In 1980 he became the first employee of White’s Quality Marking Systems in Lowell, IN. He worked in the quality control department for 38 years, remaining with the company now as Avery-Dennison until retiring in 2019. David had varied interests from art to music to motorcycles and many feline companions shared with Patricia. If desired, donations may be made to The March of Dimes in Honor of Dorothy Sharp and David or a similar charity of choice.
