Dena S. Coulis, 99, of Munster, IN. passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Steve P. Coulis; her parents, John and Adamantia Stamos, and brothers, Spero Stamos, Pete Stamos, and Jerry Stamos. She is survived by her three sons, Paul Stephen (wife Diana) of Zionsville, Indiana, John (wife Susan) of Bradenton, Florida and Philip (wife Shari) of Munster, Indiana; six grandchildren, Dena Lytle (husband Spencer) of Austin, TX, Christian Coulis (wife Alison) of Sussex, Wisconsin, Steven Coulis (wife Christina Oh) of West New York, New Jersey, Andrea Coulis (husband Matt Schweinzger) of Chicago, Illinois, Stephen Coulis of Key West, Florida, and Peter Coulis of Bradenton, Florida; 5 great-grandchildren, Anna Coulis of Sussex, Wisconsin, Emily Coulis of Sussex, Wisconsin, Mya Coulis of Sussex, Wisconsin, Liam Schweinzger of Chicago, Illinois, and Kate Schweinzger of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by her sister, Priscilla Vlahos.

Dena was a life-long resident of Indiana. She was formerly employed by the Department of Justice, Immigration & Naturalization Service, of Hammond, Indiana. She was a member of St. Demetrios Church, St. Demetrios Philoptochos, Daughters of Penelope, and Hospice of the Calumet Area. She was a member of Zeta Rho Chapter of Psi Iota Xi and the Cephalonian Ladies Society. The highlight of Dena’s life was spending time with her family and hosting all who came through her door with such memorable grace and goodness.

Visitation will take place at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. on Monday, March 25, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Demetrios Church, 7021 Hohman Avenue, Hammond, Indiana, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 10:00 am with Father David Bissias officiating. Entombment will be at the Calumet Park Cemetery, 2305 W. 73rd Street, Merrillville, Indiana.

I will never forget the elegance and dignity that hovered over her whenever she entered a room. Always gracious, she made you feel special, loved and admired. Her memory will be eternal and may her kindness live on through her family.

I could not have asked for a more loving and caring mother-in-law as Dena and I will carry her in my heart forever. Her family meant everything to her and as our family grew, we all felt touched by her gracious and giving actions. What a long, beautiful life that we were lucky to have with her!
