Denis J. Buksa, 71, of Munster, IN died on Monday, December 13, 2010. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Judy Buksa; loving father of Daniel (Julie) Buksa, Kathryn (Mark) Braun and Susan (Curtis) Anglin; cherished grandfather of 13; fond brother of Diane (Chet) Stranczek, Judy (Ted) Stranczek, Jack (Sandy) Buksa and Dave (Doreen) Buksa; many nieces and nephews; Visitation will be on Friday, December 17, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 4:30 PM at the Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and Saturday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas More Church; Fr. Michael Yadron officiating. Interment will be at St. John / St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Denis was a member and lector at St. Thomas More Church. He retired from the Social Security Administration and served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam and the Cold War (Sinop, Turkey). Denis was a regular poll worker in Munster and served as Adjutant of the American Legion Post 16, who will hold a service on Friday at 7:00 PM. Contributions to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in his memory would be appreciated.

What a wonderful co-worker Denis was at the Social Security Adm. He knew the SSI program really well and was always so helpful whenever I had a question. I wish I could attend the memorial but I doubt if I will be able to get there with the weather being so cold and I really don't drive much after night anymore. I wish to express my condolences to the family and I know he is in a better place now with our Savior, Jesus Christ.
