Donald A. Gabouer Sr. 73, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 25, 2012. Beloved husband and best friend for 51 years of Gerry (nee Kovacs); loving father of Donald (Patty) Gabouer Jr. Susan (George) Yunker, Kurt (Kelly) Gabouer and Lisa (Broque) Backal; cherished grandfather of Allison, Connor and Cameron; Kurt, Kyle and Amanda; Taylor, Madison and Colton; Austin and Bryce; Loving brother of Adele (Ray) Smith; Charles (Sue) Allen, Carla (Marty) Kagel, Dean Allen; favorite brother-in-law of Ronald, Richard (Janice), Robert (Amy), Randy (Patty) Kovacs; fond sisters-in-law, Inge Gabouer and Shirli Kovacs; preceded in death by, Larry Gabouer, Carol Zurzola, Dale Allen, Steven Kovacs and Nancy Kovacs. Donald proudly served with the U.S. Army from which he was honorably discharged. After 30 years, he retired from the Cook County Forest Preserve and enjoyed 20 years of retirement, 14 of which he spent with family and friends in Monticello, IN. Donald’s other interests included golf, travel and the Chicago White Sox. Visitation will be on Friday, June 29, 2012 from 2:00-9:00 PM at Zimmerman & Sandeman Funeral Home, 9900 W. 143rd St. Orland Park, IL. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Michael Church, 14327 Highland Ave. Orland Park, IL. Private interment will take place at Good Shepherd Cemetery.
