Dorothy M. Smigel age 88 of Highland, IN, passed away June 18, 2016. Beloved wife of Richard F. Smigel, loving mother of William (Sandi) of Crete, IL and the late Patricia Bowker of St. John, IN. Cherished grandmother “Mimi” of Jennifer (Matt) Lungaro and Christie (Brad) Taylor, Daniel and Dylan. Great-grandmother to Charlie, Dominic, Gabriel and Zachary. Dear sister of the late Thomas, John, James Kurtz and Helen “Honey” Klekowski. Visitation will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with a memorial service from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Avenue, Munster, IN 46321. Internment – Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery 20953 Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421. Dorothy was head cashier at Jewel Food Stores in Chicago until she became homemaker for her husband and two children. Dorothy was also a member of the Phi Tau Omega philanthropic and social sorority. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the Calumet Area, 600 Superior Avenue, Munster, IN 46321.
