Douglas N. Crawley, 79 of Dyer, IN passed away on Monday,

November 13, 2023. He is survived by his son Edward Crawley;

daughters, Elizabeth (Ryan) Zurek and Lynn Daniels (residing

in England); grandsons, Daniel and Matthew Zurek; sisters, Pat

and Pam. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Bee”

Crawley and a daughter, Victoria Crawley.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, November

21, 2023 at 6:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, Munster, IN.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 3:00-7:00

pm at the funeral home.

Douglas was born and raised in Surrey, England where he

completed his apprenticeship in mechanical engineering before

joining the Merchant Marines in 1965, serving until 1968 as a

marine engineer. He then lived in Australia until emigrating to

the United States in 1978. He was employed as a mechanical

engineer and machinist with Viking Engineering from 1978 until

the company closed its doors in 2004. Douglas was an avid

gardener and a member of the Dyer Lion’s Club. He

volunteered often at the V.F.W. Post 6448.

My condolences go out to the Crawley Family, and his friends. I had the pleasure to work with Doug, and there was never a dull moment. He was a great person, and loved everyone. RIP Doug.

I wouldn't know where to begin with my memories of Doug. My late husband was also from Surrey where we lived when we were first married. Then fate caused us to live near Doug and Bea and we had a very special friendship for all the time we lived in that area. Rest in peace, Doug. My condolences to the family. Doug has a special place in my heart.
