Edward Skopiec, 84 years young, of Griffith, IN formerly of Calumet City, IL passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016. He is survived by his brother, Matthew (late Eleanor) Skopiec; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Mary (nee Walczak) Skopiec; wife, Wilma (nee Fanta). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Church, 525 N. Broad St. Griffith, IN. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church. Edward served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was an avid White Sox fan. In lieu of flowers contributions to Hospice of the Calumet Area or a charity of your choice in his memory would be appreciated.
