Elaine C. Caco (nee Foster) Age 71, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010 at Community Hospital. She is survived by her Husband of 50 years, Stephen J. Caco, Sons James J. (Donna) Caco, William K. Caco, Thomas D. Caco and David P. Caco. Daughter Melissa A. Caco and two grandchildren Amanda and Christopher Borkowski. Two sisters Lois (Gerald) Burke and Kathy (John) Kobe. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Marian Foster and her sister ‚ Joni Backlin. Elaine was born March 16, 1939 to Harvey and Marian (Mihalso) Foster in Hammond, Indiana. Elaine graduated from Whiting High School in 1958. Elaine was involved in many community organizations from Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts Troop Leader, President of the Waterman Elementary School PTA, Fundraising Chairperson for District 149 and Religious Education Teacher at St. Jude the Apostle Church. She attended Calumet College and received a certificate in Religious Studies in 1980, Effective Leadership in Education & Ministry from E.L.I. Associates in 1981 and a Permanent Coordinator Certificate from The Catholic Diocese of Gary 1984. Elaine was a Director of Religious Education at St. Anthony Parish in Frankfort IL, St. Christopher Parish in Midlothian IL, St. Joseph Parish in Hammond IN and St. Thomas Mores Parish in Munster IN. Past President of the Knights of Columbus Wives Club Pope John XXIII Council 1696. Served on various committees at St. Thomas More Parish: Past Chairperson of the Formation/Education Commission, Taught 7th Grade Religious Education Classes, served as a Eucharistic Minister, Initiated the Adult Video Bible Study and an observance of the Seder Meal. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. (next to Fitness Pointe) Munster, IN from 3:00-8:00 PM with a prayer services at 3:30 PM, The Whiting Knights of Columbus Pope John XXIII Council 1696 at 7:00 PM and Friday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday May 28, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas More Church, Munster, IN with Fr. Michael Yadron officiating; Interment, Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN
