Ellen Illinois Kosich, 93, of Munster, IN passed away peacefully with family at her home on October 23, 2024.

Ellen was born on July 29, 1931 in Chicago, IL and was preceded in death by the love of her life, Emil Kosich, her husband of 49 ½ years; precious baby daughter Sue Ellen Kosich; sons-in-law Eddy Pierce, and Chuck Boswell; daughter-in-law Kris Kosich; 6 siblings; and many cherished family and friends.

Ellen is survived by the 2^nd loves of her life, her 4 children; Michael (Barb) Kosich, Amy Pierce, John (Susie Slavin) Kosich, and Karen (Jack) Callahan. She was the loving and devoted grandmother of 13 grandchildren; Jackie (Kevin) Gelatka, Jesse (Lauren) Pierce, Justin (Jordan Kelly) Pierce, Jamie (Daniel) Fahrner, Mike Kosich, Zak (Kelley) Boswell, Berlyn (Kenny) McBrien, Amy (Stew) Harsant, Ian (Emily) Boswell, Danny (Becca Calderone) Kosich, Emily (Michael) Ross, Beau (Haley) Boswell, and Nick Kosich. She was GG to 16 precious great-grandchildren; Maddie, Carly, Jackson, Kevin, Jack, Tyler, Calvin, Braxton, Royal, Oliver, Art, Gus, Emmett, Zoe, Charlie, and Leo; beloved sister to Betty (Kenny) Angotti; and countless family members and dear friends.

Ellen was a proud American of Croatian/German descent, she grew up in the south east side of Chicago and lived in Lansing, IL and Munster, IN for many years. She was an avid golfer and member of the LCC for many many years. Her talents and competitive nature led her to many awards, trophies, and championships. This fierce competitive spirit followed her throughout her life and inspired her daily activities from overcoming the big challenges, to winning an important match, or tackling something as simple as a card game with the grandkids! Her will to win and desire to “keep moving” were her secrets to living into her 90’s. She enjoyed swimming, working out, baking the BEST cookies (Nana Bites), reading, watching episode after episode of NCIS, and doing tough jigsaw puzzles. She was a wonderful care-giver who loved people and entertaining. She was always ready to celebrate life!!

Ellen’s remains will be joined with her husband Emil’s and will be buried at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in a private family service.
