Ethelyn “Joyce” Blohm, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, 88, born November 25, 1925 in Chicago, IL passed away peacefully at her Munster home on Monday, April 21, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Arthur R. Blohm; daughters, Deborah (late Joseph) Pardek, Gayle (Bob) Pahl and Wendy (John) Arth; grandchildren, Matthew and Phillip Pardek, Christopher (Bianca) Pardek, Michael (Allyson) Pardek, Katie (Marc) Alexander, Karyn (Tom) Latta, Jim (Jessica) Arth; great grandsons, Nolan Latta and Jaxtyn Alexander; nephew, Warren (Lynn) Bernau; extended family, special friend, Mary, pinochle club, Jo, Aleida and Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Ethel Recker; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Marie Bernau. Joyce worked at JC Penney, the Munster License Bureau and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She was an active member with the Senior Citizens Group there and at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Munster. She worked at the Munster polls for many years. She was a former member of the Munster Women’s Club and was a big Cubs fan. Special thanks to her caregivers, friends and the staff at the Munster Red Lobster (you always made her feel like a Queen for a day).
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Thursday from 10:00 -11:00 AM at the church. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 18100 Wentworth Ave. Lansing, IL. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or a charity of your choice. May God grant her peace until we meet again.
