Evelyn M. Phelan, 77 of Dyer, IN formerly of Munster, IN passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. She is survived by her son, James (Rose) Phelan IV; daughters, Therese (Chris) Morfas, Dorothy (Thomas) Boland and Cara Vanator; grandchildren, James V, Kevin and Alana Phelan, Alexander and Nicholas Morfas, Thomas (Elena) Jr., Daniel (Sara) and Kailin Boland, Emma, William and Tess Vanator; great granddaughter, Leona Boland; siblings, Katherine Kirk, Charles Havanas, Maryanne Figas and Susan Davanzo; preceded in death by her husband, James P. Phelan III; sons, Thomas Leo and Michael Francis Phelan; parents, Frank and Mary Havanas; siblings, Frank Havanas Jr. and Christine Langston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 12:00 PM at St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN. Interment will be private. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 11:30 AM-12:00 PM at the church.

I just took a deep breath and felt the tear roll down my cheek. I visited this website to find funeral information on Mrs. Etling for my Mother, Yvonne Benne, and was sad and shocked to see Mrs. Phelan's name posted. Evelyn was like a second mom to me during the junior and senior high school years when Therese and I ran around together as best friends. Evelyn... you were a wonderful and fun second mom to me. I remember many great conversations shared over some wonderful meals around your kitchen table. My prayers and hugs go out to all of the Phelan Family. Much Love.
