Frances J. Evans of Griffith, IN passed away peacefully Tuesday December 3, 2024, at home after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born June 19,1958 to Raymond and Gladys Crosby, she grew up on the family farm in Elbridge, MI.
Fran is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Robert L. Evans, daughters Amber (Jason) McNeiley and Casey (Steve) Varady, grandchildren Paige, Keira and Franklin, siblings Debbie (Kirk) Seabolt, Chris (Laura) Crosby, Matt (Katelynn) Crosby, mother-in-law Beth Evans, sisters-in-law Paula (Tommy) and Julie (Gary) Cvitkovich, brother-in-law Jack Hauer, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Gladys Crosby, father-in-law Robert V. Evans, mother-in-law Mary Lee Malone and father-in-law James Malone, sister-in-law Peggy Hauer and nephew Remington Crosby.
Fran enjoyed poetry, telling stories and talking on the phone. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Fran was always ready for a trip, whether it be visiting family in Michigan and Canada or investigating haunts as a member of NWI Paranormal. She was a board member for the Griffith Historical Society.
She was employed for 35 years at Griffith Public Schools as a cafeteria manager. In that time, she became an advocate against childhood hunger.
A Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Avenue Munster, IN from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a service at 7:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, we will be making a donation in Fran’s name to Griffith Public Schools to help out kids with food insecurities.
