He graduated from Thornton Township High School in 1951, obtained a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 1965 and became a Professional Engineer. On June 20, 1959 he married the love of his life, Marjorie Louise (Plug) in Dolton, Illinois. Fred was employed by Acme / Interlake Steel for 23 years, was awarded three US Patents, was Director of Environmental Control in 1974 and became Vice President of the Interlake Technical Center. After retirement from Interlake in 1986, he started Fred G, Krikau & Associates, a very successful environmental consulting business. He truly enjoyed his work and only retired (again) a few years prior to his passing. Fred was an avid golfer, a photographer, a woodworker, and a gourmet cook. He also enjoyed vacationing in Hilton Head South Carolina, reading, gardening and most of all, spoiling his wife, children and grandchildren. His family was always his highest priority.Fred is survived by his wife Marjorie; his three children, Cheryl Progler (Krikau) and her husband Thomas of Munster, IN, Mark Krikau and his wife Joan (Solon) of Southlake, TX, and Kimberly Krikau of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Emma, Jonathan, Jori and Sara; his brother, Norman Krikau and his wife Judy of Schererville, IN, and several nieces and nephews.
An environmentally friendly option.
