August 18, 1920 - March 16, 2009

Genevieve Biegel, 88, of Munster, IN passed away on Monday, March 16, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 61 years: Joseph Biegel; daughters: Kathryn (Robert) Berkowicz and Mary Jo (Robert) Biscan; sons: Paul (Linda), Mark (Connie) and John (fiancée Kristina Openshaw) Biegel; grandchildren: Jeanine (Jeffrey) Samels, Matthew (Liz) Biscan, Katherine (Marc) Ennis and Jacob Biscan; great grandchildren: Maggie, Elly and John Samels, Danny, Mikey and Molly Biscan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 10:00 AM from St. Thomas More Church; Fr. Michael Yadron officiating; Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. (next to Fitness Pointe) Munster, IN with a prayer service at 3:30 PM and a Franciscan Prayer service from 7:30-8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. Genevieve was a member of St. Thomas More Church and Senior Citizens Club; she has been a Secular Franciscan since 1989 and served the poor and homeless at Port Ministries in Chicago for 17 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Port Ministries or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in her memory would be appreciated.
