Gerald A. Weis, 74 of Highland, IN formerly of Hessville passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia (nee White); daughters, Vicki (Bill) Mesa, Sharron (Ron) Catania and Susan Weis-Mattingly; son, John (Weis; grandchildren, Lindsay (Greg) Pelham, Claire Weis, Emily (Jorge) Avina, Christian Catania, Alex Weis, Gina Catania and Matthew Weis; great granddaughter, Abigail Avina; brothers, Robert (Janice) Weis and Dan (Starr) Weis; sisters-in-law, Linda (Robert) Wojtanowski and Pam Davis; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Monday, July 1, 2013 at 9:15 AM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. James the Less Church, Highland, IN. Interment will be at St. Joseph / St John Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 PM with a prayer service at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Gerald retired after 33 years with the City of Hammond Water Department. He was a member of St. James the Less Church, the church choir and Friends of Bill W; In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Share Foundation in his memory would be appreciated.

Mr. Jerry Weiss was a very nice, and respectable man. He has been to our family functions. Jerry always had a smile on his face. I enjoyed talking to him. I remember I asked Jerry that I had heard he sang. He sang me amazing grace with a smile on his face. I consider Jerry as a miracle man. He was involved in a head on collision. He was hospitalized and had brain trauma. He has a loving family that stood by him in good and bad health. God bless his loving family. They all are one in a million. His wife is a bright and shinning diamond with many facets. God bless Pat for being his bright and shinning diamond.

Sissy and family, I'm so sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. Praying God will comfort you during this very sad time.

Jerry was a very special person. He was always smiling and sharing anecdotes. I will miss him and his smile. God bless you, Jerry. His wife, Pat, was his angel on earth.
