Gertrude “Trudy” Makowski, 90 passed into Heaven on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Albertine Home in Hammond, IN. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophia Makowski. Preceding her in death were her siblings Edmund, Harry and Benard and sister, Claire Liszczak-Stage. Survivors include her dear sister-in-law, Mary Ann Makowski; nieces and nephews, Vivian Makowski Dick, Raymond Makowski, Teresa Makowski Laciak, Tom Liszczak, Richard Makowski and Michael Makowski. Gertrude was born and raised in East Chicago, IN where she attended St. Stanislaus School. She graduated as Salutatorian from Catholic Central High School (Bishop Noll Institute). For many years she was secretary to Rev A. J. Junk, principal of Bishop Noll. A second career found her at South Suburban College in Thornton, IL as assistant to the registrar for 21 years. The last 12 years she resided at the Albertine Home in Hammond, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 808 W. 150th St. East Chicago, IN. with Msgr. Joseph Semancik officiating. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Albertine Home 1501 Hoffman St. Hammond, IN 46327, in her memory would be appreciated.
