Gertrude “Trudy” Weiss, 88, of Munster, IN passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Larry Weiss; son, Steven (Karen) Weiss; daughter, Dr. Carol Weiss (David Peal); grandchildren, Benjamin (Amy) Weiss, Daniel Weiss, Gabriel Peal and Ella Peal; twin sister, Blanche “Bobbie” (Harvey) Nagle; sister, Florence (late George) Karnofsky; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Sam (late Libby) Levin. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Interment will be at Kneseth Israel Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home. Trudy retired from the Sunnybrook School District after 25 years of service. She co-wrote with his sister, Florence, 3 early education books for parents. She founded a Women’s Investment Club and was a member of Congregation Beth Israel.
