Gloria J. Malo (86) passed away quietly on February 2, 2011. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Russell Victor Malo. Gloria is survived by her four children, Allan, Karen Eidam (Jim), Janice Neff (Mark) and Chris (Nancy, nee Simpson), 9 grandchildren; Tricia (Malo) Bautista, Kimberly Malo, Lisa Eidam Kahley, Lauren Eidam Benner, Vincent Neff, Victor Neff, Vanessa Neff, Amy Malo, Eric Malo, her sisters, Victoria DeBiasi and Vera Horseman along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of Bernard and Adeline Giaquinto who emigrated from an area north of Naples, Italy. Gloria was born in Malden, MA, grew up in the Boston area, and relocated to the Calumet Region in 1947 with Russell upon the beginning of his career with Standard Oil. Together they settled in Munster and have made it their home since 1952.Along with committing herself to the care of her “familia”, Gloria was an active volunteer throughout her life. She took a keen interest in youth activities with the St Thomas More parish CYO, and was active in the Girl Scouts of America fulfilling various leadership positions in the Calumet Council. She was always willing to give her time and loving spirit to quietly raise funds through organizing and operating programs for St. Margaret’s Hospital, Lake Shore Gallery Gift Shop in The Performing Arts Center in Munster, and Hospice of the Calumet Area. Visitation will be on Friday, February 4, 2011 at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Avenue, Munster, IN from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 5th at 10:00am at St. Thomas More Church in Munster. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Hospice of the Calumet Area, 600 Superior Avenue, Munster IN.
