Grace Edith Allen (nee Howarth) of St. John, IN. passed away on Wed. March 4, 2026 after a prolonged illness. Grace was 86 years old.
She is survived by her children, Leslie Diane (David) Koch, and Mark Scott (Sherry) Allen; her only grandchild, Anthony David Koch; Brother, Bill (Debbie) Howarth; and many nieces and nephews. Grace was proceeded in death by her parents, Albert and Alice Howarth and her husband, John William Allen Jr.
Grace was a 1957 graduate of Hammond High School. She was a life – long resident of Northwest Indiana.
Grace was a talented painter, pianist, and gourmet cook. She assisted her husband John at his State Farm Agency, and later worked for the Town of Munster.  For  several years, she was a volunteer at Community Hospital in Munster, IN.

Wishing most sincere condolences to the family. I recall working with John Allen so fondly, but my favorite memories are of him recounting daily for us the meal that Grace had prepared for them for dinner the night before. He would spare no detail and always at the end would tell us the taste was "like angels tiptoeing across his tongue!" What an amazing compliment to his wife and her cooking! She was quite the chef! Grace, I will miss you and our chats.
