Gust Georgelas, 88 of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Gust (also known as Gus) was born and raised in Chicago. He was in the Army National Guard of Illinois, the Army Reserve and was a truck driver for the A&P grocery chain. Gus was a longtime resident of Munster and a very active member of St. Thomas More Church. He and his wife, Kathy, were involved in a multitude of charitable works over the years. Gus was a member of the Msgr. Weis Council #10596 Knights of Columbus who will hold a service on Thursday at 5:30 pm and was a 4th Degree Knight. Very importantly, Gus was a devoted and loving uncle.
Gus was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Kathleen, his sister, Kay Eddleman and brother, Andrew Georgelas. Gus is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren, cousins, sisters-in-law, Irene Georgelas, Marjorie Hicks and Betty Hicks; brother-in-law, Jim Hicks.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Friday from 9:30-10:00 am at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Interment will be private. Please omit flowers. Contributions to your favorite charity or Mass intentions in Gust’s name would be appreciated.
