Henry Machuca, 73, of Hessville, IN, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at home. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret (nee Toth); two sons, Drs. Wayne (Debbie) Machuca of Gresham, OR; Daniel (Kelly) of Highland, IN; one daughter, Susanne (Sean) Bauer of Spencer, IN; nine grandchildren, Jerel, Ryan, Alec and Leala Machuca of Gresham, OR; Anthony and Rebecca Machuca of Highland, IN; Zachary, Sarah and Nicole Bauer of Spencer, IN. Also surviving, Step-mother Virginia Machuca, two sisters, Marie (Ben) Martinez (Chicago, IL) and Myrna Enriquez (TX); Brother-in-law Steven (Mary Barbara) Toth and numerous nieces and nephews. Always at his side, canine companion, Button. Proceeded in death by his father, Henry Machuca Sr., mother, Esther Rodriguez and brother Richard Machuca.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM from St. Catherine of Siena Church in Hessville, IN, Fr. Larry Kew officiating. Internment will be private at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church. Kish Funeral Home, Munster, IN. in charge of arrangements.Henry was a retired supervisor from Inland Steel where he worked for 34 years, graduate of WHS class of 1954, attended Indiana University, Bloomington and served in the U.S. Army 1958-1962. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, bowling, exercising at the Hammond Civic Center, photography and travel. He coached girl’s softball with the Hessville Little League in the 1970’s and 1980’s. He was a member of American Legion Post 369. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Church or Hospice of the Calumet Area. He will be sorely missed by his family and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
