J.C. O’Neill, Chicago Heights, Illinois, age 84, passed peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Joseph Charles O’Neill leaves behind wife of 60 years Joan (Fitzpatrick), along with his eight children, Michael (Linda), Pat (Debby), Kevin (Mary Ellen), Maryellyn (Michael) Knight, Timothy (Nancy), Joanne (Ron) Sicher, Colleen (David) Ranieri, Bridget (Tim) Reed. Grandfather of 19: Christopher, Sean, Amy (fiancé Kyle Siwinski) and Douglas O’Neill; Erin (Ryan Johnson), Ryan (Heather), Patrice and Patrick O’Neill; Brendan and Eileen O’Neill; James (Hillary) and Katherine Knight; Meghan (Doug) Buysse, Joseph and Robert O’Neill; Brian and Kevin Sicher; and, Jack and Adam Reed. Great-Grandfather of Logan and Aiden Johnson. J.C. graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Chicago and proudly served his country in the U S Navy. After marrying the love of his life Joan in 1954, he went on to become the founder and patriarch of Fabsco Corp., still operating today. Joe was an active member of the community by serving as an Alderman in Calumet City. He also served on the Board of Trustees at Calumet College of St. Joseph for over 20 years. Joe was a member of the Hammond Optimist Club, the Notre Dame 100 Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Notre Dame Football fan. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 22244 Torrence Avenue, Sauk Village, Illinois on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10:00AM.
