James DeBoer, age 88, of Schererville, IN, passes peacefully in his home on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary (Urzik) DeBoer; 3 children Michael (Tracy)DeBoer, Wanda (Scott) Moeller, Debbie (Scott)Myers; 6 grandchildren: Scott (Carla)DeBoer, Mathew (Stephanie) DeBoer, Abby (Devin) Holtz, Sydney DeBoer, Austin & Jordan Moeller; 6 great grandchildren, Hayden Hume, Lilly & Madelyn DeBoer, Soren, Astrid & Oscar DeBoer, and a sister, Lorraine (Larry) Newland. Jim is preceded in death by his parents Harry & Winnie DeBoer, his brother Paul and his son Scott Edward, and his first wife Lois Pangrac.

James attended Bloom HS and was a star Pitcher. He was a prominent businessman in Highland, IN, starting the first Toyota Dealership Franchise and several strip malls including Sir James Court. He was a very hard worker but enjoyed hobbies such a magic, fishing, and golf. James enjoyed telling his grandkids stories of his young life on the farm, hunting and playing Baseball. James and his wife spent half their time in Florida playing golf and were members of Venice Presbyterian Church. James had a great, fulfilling life and will be missed for his sense of humor, his generous heart, and his authenticity.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave., Munster, In. 46375 on Sat. Dec. 16, 3pm to 6pm. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in Jim’s name.
