James E. Miller, Sr., 84 of Munster, Indiana passed away on August 1, 2023. “Jim” is survived by his lovely wife of 64 years, Sharon; his daughters, Robynn Miller and Kimberly Brown; and his son, James, Jr. Jim was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Gavin Hamilton, Paige Hamilton, Ricky Brown and Shaun Brown. With extended blessings of 3 great-grandchildren, Shelby Brown, Scarlet Brown and Levi Brown.
Jim loved his family, friends and loyal dog, Benjamin. He was a graduate of Hammond High School. Attended Purdue University and a retiree from Inland Steel Company and a life-long Cubs fan. Mom mistakenly kept telling us that he wanted to be castrated after death, Dad assured us she meant cremated. Jim was also banned from various local towns in his teens for drag racing but was later forgiven.
Jim insisted that he didn’t want a funeral but instead for us all to remember him with our fond thoughts and memories. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend.
He lived life with humor, humility and honor. The world most certainly needs more men like James Edward Michael Miller. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.
