James Peter “Skip” Bereolos fell asleep in the arms of the Lord on Monday, July 11, 2016, after several months of declining health. Skip was proud to be the first born of Peter and Mary Bereolos. His Grandfather, Father and Son were also number one sons of number one sons. He was born on August 27, 1936 and was looking forward to enjoying his 80th birthday. On May 17, 1964 he married Tess Condo, and they recently celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary.Skip was a quiet, unassuming man who enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved sports, traveling, going to the theatre, working and family. He was a die hard White Sox fan and loved trading barbs with Cub Fans. He enjoyed attending auto races, especially the Canadian American Series and the Indy 500. He loved watching football and basketball, both on the college and professional level. His most memorable trips were to Israel (visiting Bethlehem), Brazil (especially Iguassu Falls), Thailand (riding a water buffalo), Hong Kong, Alaska, Hawaii (with his Mom, Dad, Tess and Peter), Mexico, the Panama Canal and cruising the Caribbean. But, the trip he talked about the most was with his Aunt Angie Condes when he was 12. She took him by train to New York City to see the Yankees play ball.Skip graduated from Hammond High School, then attended Indiana University in Bloomington where he earned his degree in Accounting. He then joined the family business, Jersey Maid Ice Cream. After the business closed, Skip became a stock broker with American Trust and Savings Bank Investments, then with ATIS Investment Services where he continued to work until his passing. During tax season, he worked as a tax preparer for Jackson-Hewitt in Highland.Preceding him in death were his parents: Peter and Mary Bereolos, brother: Andrew (Buddy), sister: Sandra, and nephew: Mark Thanos. He is survived by his Wife Tess; Son Peter; Aunt Audrey (late Pete) Tsouchlos; his Sisters-In -Laws, Sophie (Jim) Misner, Rosalind (late Buddy) Bereolos, Fran (Stan) Drozdz; his Brother-In-Law, Chris (Yvonne) Condo; his nieces, Diana (John) Chrisagis, Alexis (Terry) Coady, Andrea (Tom) Tsakopoulos, Angela (Mark) Hussey, Deb Condo (Jon) Liljekrans, Dena (Jerry) Tomasic, and Amy (Vince) Paul; nephew, Adam (Amy) Condo; Great Nieces Jessica (Mike) Abel, Melissa Hussey, Sandra Tsakopoulos, Jennifer Tomasic and Zoe Chrisagis; Great Nephews, Andrew and Ethan Curtis, John and Michael Thanos, Vasi and Vinnie Paul, Conner Tomasic; Great-Great Nephew Jackson Abel; Most Special Cousin, Jim (late Bev) Condes; Godchild/cousin Michael (Marcie) Kolberg; Godchildren Georgette (Dave) Depew, Jamie (Doug) Basham, and Kristen (Brock) Smith.Visitation at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Avenue, Munster on Thursday, July14, from 3:00 – 8:00 pm, prayer service at 6:30 PM. Funeral services Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 7017 Hohman Avenue, Hammond with Father James Greanias presiding.
