James Phelan, 74, of Lake Village, Indiana formerly of Munster, IN passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Evelyn Phelan; son: James (Rose) Phelan IV; daughters: Therese (Dr. Chris) Morfas, Dorothy (Tom) Boland and Cara Vanator; grandchildren: James V, Kevin and Alana Phelan, Alexander and Nicholas Morfas, Thomas (Elena) Jr, Daniel and Kailin Boland, Emma, William and Tess Vanator; sisters: Kathleen (Ray) Smitley and Catherine (Harry) Sages; brother: Patrick Phelan; numerous nieces and nephews; preceded in death by his sons: Thomas Leo and Michael Francis. Visitation will be Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 4:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 4:30 PM, Deacon Martin Denkhoff officiating at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. (next to Fitness Pointe) Munster, IN and Friday, June 12, 2009 from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. James Church 9640 Kennedy Ave. Highland, IN with Fr. Keith Virus officiating; Cremation to follow service.
