Janet H. Kulka, 85, of Munster, IN passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Kulka; son, Robert (Janice) Kulka of Danville, IN; daughter, Karolyn (Daniel) Bishop of Munster, IN; grandchildren, Erinne (Chris) Sikich (nee Kulka) and Rachel Bishop; sister, Joyce (Jack) Rice; She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Edna K. (nee Hawley) Hollowell. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Janet graduated from Danville High School and Indiana University School of Music Class of 1951 and later a Masters in Teaching. She attended Stephens College and studied at Juliard School of Music. Janet was a retired school teacher with over 40 years of service primarily with the Hammond School System. She also taught voice and piano lessons. Janet was actively involved with the Lake County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Winimac Old Auto Club, Early Ford V-8 Club, Daughter’s of the Nile and was involved with the YMCA water aerobics and Meals on Wheels.
