A truly independent and free spirited person, Jan was born February 6, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio. She lived most of her life in Munster, but was proud of her Buckeye beginnings. Jan passed away Sunday, April 6 after a short, difficult battle with cancer. Her sister, Judy Abbott, and nieces, Natalie Klema and Tricia Abbott, were with her throughout the day at The Riley Residence of Hospice of the Calumet Area. Jan was a central character in the life of our immediate family including her nephews, Parry and Scott Abbott, and Terry Klema along with her great nieces, Camille Burger, Elaine and Katie Klema, and sister-in-law, Leslie Keller. Jan was preceded in death by her mother and father, Elmer and Eloise Keller, sister, Lita and brother, Jim (Leslie) . She leaves memories of honesty and laughter with all who met her. According to her wishes, Jan will be remembered with a private family memorial. Memorial donations to Arc BRIDGES where her nephew Scott attends and Jan enjoyed volunteering would be welcomed. Kish Funeral Services of Munster will handle cremation.
