Joan was a loving and joyful woman. Not disposed to assessing blame, Joan was always forward looking. A devoted wife and mother, Joan asserted before tying the knot that she aspired to having six children in her marriage. Her off springs and her progeny are the great gift she has left and her line will undoubtedly prevail to the end of the human race. Joan enjoyed her children’s athleticism and activities, showing a special affinity for her grandchildren and her great grandson. The live theater and Broadway productions were a favorite source of entertainment for her and which she shared jointly with her husband. Joan looked for frequent opportunities to get the family together for cousins’ reunions and she especially enjoyed directing and producing family musical plays during the Christmas season. Joan was a devoted partner to her husband throughout their 55 year marriage as well as in several business ventures. A year in Europe, during her husband’s civilian employment with the Army Dependent Schools, enforced a love of travel which continued throughout her life as she visited her children and their families in Georgia, Arizona and California. Joan always felt deeply indebted to her parents, Walter and Jean Wachel and had a strong bond with Jim’s parents, Elizabeth and John F. Cerajewski. Her unselfishness, devotion and love have left their mark.In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Our Lady of Consolation Church or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
