Joan E. Kartz, 78, of Hammond, IN passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Beloved mother of Vicky, Michael, Stephen (Kelly), Lisa (Scott Ryerson) and Brian (Jessica) Kartz; loving grandmother of Samantha, Isaac, Naomi, Madeline, Danny and Julia Frances; cherished sister of Mary Lynn (late Vernon) Guzek, Kathryn (Terry) Schwartz and Betty (Alex) Vermejan; many nieces and nephews; Preceded in death by the love of her life, Joseph, husband of 52 years; parents, Emam and Helen Mirzalli; sisters, Evelyn Fusner (Karen) and Leila Vrahoretis (George).Visitation will be on Friday, October 29, 2010 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and Saturday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church with Fr. Charles Mosley officiating; Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN.Joan was a Cursillista with the Cursillo Movement of Northwest Indiana for 42 years; involved in the religious teaching for the handicapped, an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for 55 years where she was involved with the RCIA program, Eucharistic Minister and Lector.
