Joanne Marcia Connelly

JOANNE M. CONNELLY MUNSTER, IN Joanne M. Connelly (nee Pribanich), 81 of Munster, IN formerly of East Chicago, IN passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. She is survived by her sons: Michael (Corinne) Connelly of Merrillville, IN and John (Cheryl) Connelly of Crown Point, IN; daughters: Roberta (David) Harnish of Crown Point, IN and Mary (Shaun) Gatipon of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren: Alexis Connelly, Maggie Connelly, Sarah Harnish, Michael E. Connelly, Ryan Connelly and Michelle Gatipon. Preceded in death by her parents: Michael J. and Mary Pribanich; sister, Marilyn Pribanich; brother, Michael Pribanich; husbands: Clair O. MacNeal and Michael E. Connelly. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 20, 2013 at 9:00 AM at the funeral home with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church, East Chicago, IN. Interment will be at St. John / St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Joanne was a member of the Women's Association of the Northwest Indiana Symphony, Saint Cecilia Choir, St. Stanislaus Parish in East Chicago, and the Red Hat Society of Northwest Indiana. Joanne wore many hats in her life. She worked first as a stewardess during the 1950's, then as a secretary/assistant to the publisher for Cahners Publishing. Later, she was an administrative assistant at various other firms, finally retiring as a legal secretary at Schiff, Hardin and Waite in December 1999. She was known for lavish holiday parties, supporting the arts and was an avid Notre Dame football fan.
