John V Murin, age 86 passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 10, 2016. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (nee Francis) of Munster, IN, married in Whiting, IN in 1951; they were blessed with 64 wonderful years of wedded bliss. Also survived by loving daughters, Melissa (Mark) Dano of Mission Viejo, CA and Laura (John) Reinert of Murrieta, CA; cherished grandchildren, Morgan and Madison Dano; and Hannah and Luke Reinert. Fond sister, Paula (Richard) Barna of East Chicago; Close Cousin James (Nancy) Winiecki of Schererville, IN. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Emma Bogusz and John R. Murin of East Chicago, IN. Jack graduated from East Chicago Roosevelt High School (Class of 1948) and was a member of the East Chicago State Championship Football team. He retired from Inland Steel with 42 years of service. He served his country during the Korean Conflict as an aerial photo interpreter in an intelligence unit. Jack was a member of the St. Thomas More Church for over 60 years where he participated in many activities. Jack was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many trips to Canada and Alaska where he received the “Manitoba Master Angler Award”. Other activities he enjoyed were traveling, golf, hunting and cheering on his daughters and grandchildren in their various sports and activities. Visitation will be on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 3:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 3:30 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN and on Saturday from 11:30 am-12:00 pm at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 19, 2016 at 12:00 pm at St. Thomas More Church, Munster, IN. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Memorial donations to Hospice of the Calumet Area or a charity of your choice in John’s memory would be appreciated.
